Admissions

How to apply, waitlist information, and financial support

Admissions Process

1. Gather the Essentials. The English Modern School Khor is located in Al Khor, Qatar. The Cambridge International Curriculum is used for KG1 to Year 13. Admission is conducted exclusively through online applications. The school serves KG1 to Year 13 and has a diverse student body from over 55 nationalities.

2. Fill Online Application. Submit the online application via the EMS admissions system. After submission, the child's name is added to the waiting list and you receive an acknowledgment email. If a vacancy arises, the admission office schedules assessment dates for applicants, prioritizing those on the waiting list. Results are emailed to parents about a week after assessments.

3. Waiting List Placement. After submitting, the child's name is placed on the waiting list and an acknowledgment email is sent. When a vacancy arises, assessments are scheduled with priority given to those on the waiting list. Assessment results are emailed to parents about a week after the assessments. Vacancies are filled on a first-come, first-served basis with priorities for EMS staff children, siblings of current EMS students, EMS alumni's children, students from other EMS campuses, and all other students meeting admission requirements.

4. Assessment. For KG1 & KG2, assessments are conducted through practical play sessions to assess readiness. For Year 1 & Year 2, assessments cover basic writing, phonics, and number work. For Years 3 to 10, English and Mathematics are assessed online, either online or on-site. For Year 11, acceptance follows interviews and evaluation of Year 10 subject reports, with possible assessments. For Year 12, entry to the AS Level program requires at least a C grade in five IGCSE subjects; admissions from other programs at this stage are rare. For Year 13, entry requires at least A-E in three AS Level exams; spaces are limited and allocated by waiting list and criteria.

5. Acceptance and Registration. Once accepted, proceed with the registration process. Final enrollment is confirmed upon receipt of the registration fee, school fees, and all required documentation.

6. Priority Placement. Vacancies are filled on a first-come, first-served basis with the following priorities: Children of EMS staff members; siblings of current EMS students; EMS alumni's children; students from other EMS campuses; all other students meeting admission requirements.

7. Withdrawal Procedure. Submit the withdrawal form at least four weeks prior to the start of the term. Ensure all outstanding school fees are settled; return school-issued Chromebooks and library books. For transfers within Qatar, a vacancy letter from the new school is required to facilitate the transfer in the NSIS system. Transcripts are issued after clearance; leaving Qatar may require transcript attestation.

Waitlist

The waiting list is created after an online application is submitted, and an acknowledgment email is sent. When a vacancy arises, assessment dates are scheduled for applicants, with priority given to those on the waiting list. Assessment results are emailed to parents about a week after the assessments. Vacancies are filled on a first-come, first-served basis with priority categories including EMS staff children, siblings of current EMS students, EMS alumni's children, students from other EMS campuses, and other qualified applicants.
