The English Modern School Al Khor was established in 2013 as part of the English Modern School network in Qatar. The EMS network offers the Cambridge International Curriculum across four campuses—Doha, Khor, and two in Wakra—for students from KG1 to Year 13. EMS Wakra was founded in 2011, and EMS Khor joined the network in 2013, marking its expansion into Al Khor. In 2015, EMS Khor became a Cambridge International Examination Center, aligning its assessments with Cambridge standards. The network has pursued international accreditation and expanded its curriculum to include A Level courses at EMS Khor in 2024, reflecting ongoing growth.
The school community is multicultural, with students from more than 55 nationalities. The EMS Khor site documents a range of family- and community-oriented events, including Qatar National Day celebrations, Anti-Bullying Week campaigns, cross-school STEAM workshops, and family activities such as KG1 Teddy Bears' Picnic. The Alumni network is active within EMS Khor, providing ongoing connections with graduates as part of the school community.
Public materials describe parent involvement through channels such as the Parent Portal and the annual Parent & Student Handbook, rather than a standalone PTA. The school emphasizes that a strong partnership between parents and the school is essential for student success and encourages parents to be involved in their child's education, including attending school events and communicating with teachers. The Parent Portal provides direct access to academic information and progress updates for families. The Parent & Student Handbook outlines policies, resources, and guidelines for families to engage with the school. An Alumni network exists to maintain connections with former students and support ongoing engagement with the EMS community, and families participate in events such as Qatar National Day and cross-campus STEAM initiatives.
