The English Modern School Wakra campus was founded in 2011 as part of The English Modern School network's expansion. EMS Wakra is a privately owned school delivering the Cambridge International Curriculum for KG1 to Year 6. EMS expanded to Khor in 2013, with the Cambridge International Curriculum implemented across all EMS campuses. The network earned Qatar National School Accreditation in 2014 for Wakra, NEASC accreditation across Wakra and Khor in 2020, and Wakra re-accreditation completed in 2025. A new EMS Wakra campus is planned to open in September 2026, reflecting ongoing investment in facilities.
The Wakra campus hosts a diverse, multicultural community with students from over 55 nationalities. The Cambridge International Curriculum is implemented across EMS campuses, supporting a cohesive international community. Qatar National Day 2025 celebrations featured student performances and community involvement. Cross-campus STEAM workshops and the Unity Wall inclusion initiative in 2025 involved students, staff and families across EMS campuses.
There is no publicly documented formal Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for EMS Wakra in the publicly available materials. The EMS network emphasizes a strong parent partnership and invites involvement by attending school events and communicating with teachers. Past EMS Wakra events include activities such as Coffee Morning and a Dress Down Day in 2018. The Unity Wall initiative in 2025 included participation from families as part of cross-campus inclusion efforts. Qatar National Day 2025 celebrations also involved families and student performances.
