Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

ISC-Doha opened in Qatar in September 1999. It is part of the global SABIS Network, whose roots trace back to the 19th‑century SABIS mother school in Choueifat, Lebanon. The campus spans about 45,000 square meters and offers modern, purpose‑built facilities designed for contemporary teaching and learning. ISC‑Doha is a non‑selective, co‑educational, independent, English‑medium day school that is locally recognized by the Qatar Ministry of Education and internationally accredited. The SABIS Network operates in 20 countries, reflecting its long‑standing international presence.

Community

ISC‑Doha serves local and multinational communities with a diverse student body and staff. The SABIS Student Life Organization (SLO) is the heart of school life, a student‑led structure with nine departments that drive clubs, events, and community initiatives. The SLO period is integrated into the timetable as a weekly period to support student leadership and project work. The school offers a broad range of clubs and activities, including arts and crafts, dance, chess, choir, debating, drama, film, IT, and science, alongside extensive sports programs and facilities.

Parent-Teacher Association

Public materials describe a SABIS Student Life Organization (SLO) as the central framework for student and family engagement at ISC‑Doha; there is no publicly listed standalone PTA page for the school. The SLO comprises nine departments, including Academic, Discipline, Management, Sports, Wellness, Activities, Outreach, Social Responsibility, and Lower School, which coordinate clubs, events, and service projects. The SLO period is embedded in the school timetable as a weekly activity period. Through its departments, SLO runs a wide range of activities—from peer tutoring and academic competitions to charitable campaigns and clubs such as arts, drama, debating, and science. Alumni events are a notable feature of ISC‑Doha's community life, with alumni galas (for example, the Gala Dinner in 2019 and a subsequent Alumni Gala Dinner in 2021) bringing together former students, staff, and current faculty. Community service initiatives, such as visits to animal shelters organized by student clubs, also illustrate active family and community involvement within the SABIS framework.
