BBIS requires a uniform: BBIS polo t-shirt with dark bottoms (trousers/skirts) or a BBIS hoodie with dark bottoms. On PE days, students wear the BBIS track suit with BBIS sport t-shirt, and shorts are not allowed. Makeup and jewelry are strictly forbidden. Nail polish is not allowed, except nude color. Girls' hair must be tied for a neat, appropriate appearance.
BBIS was founded in 2003 and is accredited by the Lebanese and Romanian Ministries of Education and authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) as an IB Continuum School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
Bucharest-Beirut International School (BBIS) offers an IB Continuum education for ages 2 to 18, integrating the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) with the Reggio Emilia approach and a bespoke curriculum. Founded in 2003, BBIS is accredited by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and the Romanian Ministry of Education and authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organisation as an IB World School. In 2017 BBIS earned authorization for the Diploma Programme, and in 2021 for the Primary Years Programme, enabling a smooth progression from Early Years through Year 12. The curriculum emphasizes inquiry-based learning aligned with the IB Learner Profile to develop life-long learners and global citizens. The campus at 14 Vergului Street, District 2, Bucharest, includes House 1 for Early Education and Primary, a library, a boarding facility and an outdoor area for the Secondary School. English is the language of instruction, with Arabic, French and Spanish offered through the DP; Arabic is widely used among students. The Lebanese National Syllabus is used, with materials produced in Lebanon. Charity activities are part of extracurricular life.
