Hermann Oberth International German School is a private educational institution founded in 2006, offering education from kindergarten to high school. Teaching was initially German-only and is expanding to bilingual approaches – German-English, German-Romanian, English-Romanian – and all-English instruction for International Baccalaureate students. The school's vision is to steer students to reach their full potential as active participants in a globalized society. Hermann Oberth, the physicist from Sibiu and a pioneer in rocket science, inspired the school's founding and spirit. We aim to help students' parents shape responsible, creative, fair, tolerant, open-minded, involved, inclusive, generous and dignified individuals who will contribute to a constantly evolving global society.
Hermann Oberth International German School emphasizes interculturality, entrepreneurship education and democratic citizenship across primary, secondary and high school. The school also focuses on personalized learning, language proficiency, collaboration and empathy in a diverse society. Our classes are small, enabling teachers to spend more time with each student, and counselors from the Guidance Department provide regular support to families. The language policy guides exposure to German, Romanian and English, with DSD and Cambridge examinations and opportunities for additional languages. Leisure activities, cultural experiences, trips and sports help build community, and students participate in national Olympiads and share notable achievements.
