The International School of Bucharest offers the National Curriculum of England and Wales from early years to Key Stage 3. In KS3, the Cambridge Secondary Curriculum supplements the standard programme to meet the needs of the international student body. Students in Years 10 and 11 follow the Cambridge IGCSE programme. Year 12 and 13 study the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in preparation for university entry.
Extracurricular activities include sports, performing arts, science, board games, modern foreign languages, music and debating, as well as special-interest clubs and extra academic lessons. Violin and piano lessons are offered, alongside art activities. Some activities are delivered by external instructors.
Modern foreign languages are taught as part of the ISB curriculum. Debating and other language-related activities are included in the extracurricular program, supporting language and cultural engagement.
ISB offers a wide range of clubs and activities, including sports, science, board games, music and special-interest clubs. External instructors run activities such as karate, swimming, robotics, and cooking and nutrition; some clubs may have fees. The program runs after school, with sessions and enrichment slots throughout the week.
ISB runs the Green Challenge to promote recycling, environmental awareness and social responsibility among students.
The House System encourages leadership and teamwork and promotes inclusion. Houses compete in sports, subject games and quizzes, providing opportunities for student leadership.
ISB emphasizes physical health through a broad PE and sport program. Activities include football, basketball, swimming, volleyball, athletics and table tennis, with participation in internal and external competitions such as the Lumina Football Cup.
International School of Bucharest is a non-profit day school delivering a British-style education from early years through IB Diploma Programme.
