Other costs and compulsory items

- Uniform: school uniform is mandatory in primary education. Uniform ordering is handled through the school's supplier channel (uniform provider specified). Resource and registration fees are charged separately.

Extra-curricular internal clubs are often included in fees while external/third‑party activities or trips may incur extra charges.

- Referral / credit arrangements: a referral scheme exists that awards tuition credit or vouchers for certain costs (for example books, uniforms or clubs); the scheme rules and application of credit are set by the school.

Refund information

- The public fee pages and admissions policy list registration, resource and tuition amounts and payment schedules but do not publish a comprehensive refund or cancellation schedule on the fee pages; the fee pages state fees are revised annually and note the payment deadlines and instalment terms. Specific refund terms for registration fees, tuition or resource fees are not set out on the publicly displayed fee pages.

Fee payment options (practical details)

- The school publishes a parent portal for attendance, clubs and payments (myEduCare) and uses bank accounts held at a Romanian bank for school financial transactions; published institutional documents include school IBANs for EUR and RON accounts. Parents can therefore expect to pay by bank transfer to the school's IBAN; the parent portal is used for invoicing and bill management. No public page explicitly lists acceptance of specific payment card brands; payment-by-card availability is not specified on the published fee pages.

Notes on inclusions / exclusions

- The following are explicitly noted as not included in standard tuition where applicable: optional external clubs run by third parties, tourist/field trips run externally, and certain coursebooks when required for older year groups. Many after-school clubs organised by the school are included in the tuition. Registration and resource fees are charged in addition to the annual tuition.

The policy aligns with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2026 as a benchmark and outlines duties, reporting, training and governance.
Parent Experience

History

ISO is a non-profit day school providing a broad, British-style education in Oradea. ISO was co-founded by Lumina SA, Lumina Foundation – International School of Bucharest and the Municipality of Oradea. There are two curricula: the International Line uses the UK national curriculum with English as the language of instruction, while the Romanian Line follows the Romanian national curriculum with an intensive English program. The association was formed to establish ISO as a private, English-language international school with Cambridge accreditation. The association also aims to promote cultural and scientific values through education, organize events and scientific activities, and establish programs and relationships of cooperation with national and international institutions.

Community

There is a strong sense of community among parents, staff and students, with many opportunities for new families to get involved. Some opportunities are informal, while others involve joining Friends of ISO (FoISO) and attending regular meetings or events. FoISO is a link between parents and teachers with the aim of creating the best possible learning environment, and it provides an official platform to discuss concerns. Every parent with children at ISO is a member of FoISO and can participate by joining the committee, attending monthly meetings, helping at events, or simply attending events to help make them successful.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

FoISO, the Friends of ISO, is the school's Parent Teacher Association. It links parents and teachers with the shared aim of creating the best possible learning environment and providing a platform to discuss concerns. FoISO acts as a fundraising body to support school activities and events. Every ISO parent is a FoISO member, and parents can join the committee, attend monthly meetings, help at events, or participate in activities to help make events successful. Minutes of FoISO meetings and announcements keep parents updated on discussions and projects, and participation offers opportunities to meet people from diverse cultures.

The International Line provides a British-style education based on the England National Curriculum, Maths and Science, adapted for international students as well as those from Romania. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is based on the UK EYFS Framework and delivered through a multi-sensory, play-based approach. ISO has been an accredited Cambridge International School since June 2018. ISO meets the standards for British Schools Overseas (BSO) accreditation (BSO report 2022). Admissions

Admissions

1. ISO serves the international community in Oradea as well as Romanian students who are committed to access an international education and curriculum in English. Applications are considered throughout the year based on space availability. ISO is a non-sectarian and coeducational institution. 2. English is the language of instruction and communication. The ability to access the curriculum within a reasonable time and to thrive in the English-language learning environment are guiding principles for admission. In early years, immersion in English is usually sufficient for children to develop proficiency, and Primary School may admit regardless of current English proficiency. EAL support is available within the academic programme as required. 3. Student Support Programme (SSP) – Applicants with mild social/emotional issues, learning difficulties or other special needs are referred to the SSP Coordinator for evaluation. The decision to admit the child will be made by the relevant Deputy Headteacher based on the recommendation of the SSP Coordinator. If it is determined that the school is unable to accommodate a candidate's special needs, the school will endeavour to direct parents to a more suitable option. 4. Academic Achievement – ISO accommodates students with a range of academic abilities, provided they can adequately access and benefit from the curriculum. This determination is primarily by reviewing applicants' school records and the completed student recommendation form. In Secondary School, academic assessment tests in English and Mathematics are also considered. 5. Residence – ISO is a day school and does not have boarding facilities. Students must reside with their parent(s) or other legal guardian in a location within commuting distance to the school. 6. Parent Communication – English and Romanian are the primary languages for communicating with parents. Staff communicate in English and Romanian to support families. At least one parent or guardian should be able to communicate with school personnel in English or Romanian. 7. EYFS – Early Years Foundation Stage has two levels: Foundation Stage 1 for children who are 3 by September 1 and Foundation Stage 2 for children who are 4 by September 1. All EYFS students must be toilet-trained. Nursery students do not need to be toilet-trained. 8. Class Organisation – ISO is a coeducational international school. Nursery has a ratio of 1 adult per 4 students; Foundation Stage 1 & 2 have 1 adult per 8 students; Years 1–6 have a maximum of 20 students per class. When 20 is reached, a waiting list applies. 9. Age Placement – Primary placement is determined by age as of September 1. EYFS: Foundation Stage 1 is for 3-year-olds and Foundation Stage 2 is for 4-year-olds. Exceptional admissions may place a child outside the standard age range if the birthday falls within a month of September 1. 10. Application Timeline – Most students enrol at the beginning of the school year or at the start of the second term in January. A student may be admitted to the School at any time during the school year if places are available. 11. Screening and Interviews – Nursery, EYFS and Primary applicants are invited to a morning lesson or informal play session before formal acceptance. If application is during the summer months, the first day in school serves as the session. The visit helps identify issues that may affect access to the programme. The school reviews current and prior records and requires a student recommendation form from the previous education provider. 12. Student Records – ISO requires student records in English or translated into English from the applicant's previous school before acceptance. Records may include reports, transcripts, standardised tests, counsellor or psychologist reports and recommendation letters; the school may contact the previous school before acceptance. 13. Parental Agreement – Parents must agree to the ISO Admissions Policy before enrollment. By signing the application for admission, they agree to the terms and conditions. The application forms, documents and fees must be received by the Admissions Office. 14. Referral Program – ISO's referral program rewards families who share their ISO experience. The referring and new families receive a discount on tuition; the percentage is established by the SMT. Eligibility requires the referring child to be enrolled at ISO, and if both families are applying, the referring family must submit their application before the new family. Restrictions include that the discount applies to the current school year only and the program applies only to new enrollees; previous-year referrals do not apply to a previously enrolled student. Tuition credits are issued for each new student referred; credits are applied to the current year's tuition (or carried forward to next year or used for lunch/extracurricular invoices if tuition has already been paid). The rolling admissions policy means there is no application deadline for the new family.

Waitlist

When a class reaches its maximum size, a waiting list is used. Years 1–6 have a maximum of 20 students per class, and a waiting list applies once this limit is reached.
