AIS–Al-Sulaimaniah was founded in 1999 as a nonselective school admitting both boys and girls. It is managed by SABIS, a global education network, and operates as part of Abdulaziz International Schools in Riyadh. The school uses the SABIS Educational System to prepare students for college and beyond. In 2013, a second AIS campus, Abdulaziz International School – Al-Wadi, was opened in Riyadh to extend SABIS-based education in the city.
AIS–Al-Sulaimaniah places student life at the center of the school experience. The campus offers the SABIS Student Life Organization and a range of sports and activities as part of its academic life, with activities designed to support student well‑being and development. The school explicitly emphasizes daily student engagement through these activities, and AIS–Al-Sulaimaniah Stories showcase student experiences and community moments.
Public materials describe parent involvement through admissions processes, family testimonials, and general engagement channels rather than a named PTA. The admissions section invites prospective families to visit the school and apply, indicating a pathway for parent participation. Parent engagement is evidenced by parent testimonials on AIS–Al-Sulaimaniah Stories, such as those from Ali Almuhtaseb, Najla AlRasheed, Maya Kabbara, and Reham Selim. The school highlights SABIS Student Life Organization and campus activities as primary avenues for involvement in school life. Arabic-language pages likewise present family input and school life without listing a PTA structure.
