Dar Jana International Schools were established in 1999 with a modest enrollment of 23 students and are named after the Jana island off Jubail. It began as a small early childhood program and expanded into a Boys and Girls school to accommodate growing enrollment. The first graduating class occurred in 2004, and in 2005 the school achieved its first accreditation with CITA and a SAT Test Center. Expansion included the Heraa Campus in 2012, and in 2016 a corporate structure was established to ensure sustainability, standardization, and growth across campuses. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the schools reopened with a flexible learning model (2019-2021) and, in 2022, introduced Chromebooks and blended learning.
Dar Jana describes its community as a family and a community of learners. Student life features a Student Council, Clubs & Activities, and an Academic Calendar, along with Student Awards & Recognitions. Get Involved explains how families participate through a monthly Parent Advisory Committee, read-aloud volunteering, and opportunities for internships or mentorships, while the Student Community Service Program engages seniors in community projects. Founding Day is observed as a no-school day on the calendar, with Eid breaks and other events scheduled throughout the year.
The Parent Advisory Committee serves as the primary parent body, meeting monthly to advise the school on parent views and feedback about programs, policies, plans and activities. Parents can volunteer to read aloud for class sessions and may offer professional services to support internships or mentorships for students. The Student Community Service Learning program operates as a graduation requirement, enabling seniors to undertake projects that connect them to local, national, and global communities. Get Involved outlines additional ways families participate in school life and strengthens home–school communication. The PTA-related activities reflect the school's emphasis on active parental involvement as part of the broader DJIS community.
