ECIS is owned and managed by Britus Education, a growing regional group with schools across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, and Bahrain. ECIS operates in East Riyadh, Al-Fayhaa District, offering an American curriculum taught primarily in English, with core Arabic and Islamic studies. The school adopted the Common Core State Standards in the year it was established. ECIS is affiliated with Brights Education Company in Bahrain. External directories indicate the school opened in 2013 and was formerly known as Banoo Iqraa International School.
ECIS maintains an engaged school community with structures for family involvement, including a Parent Council, a Board of Managers, and a Senior Leadership Team. The school provides a Student Council, giving students a voice in school life. The ECIS calendar lists events and activities, including social and school events in the 2025–2026 cycle. The Parent Council's goals center on engaging families, promoting positive change, and delivering a calendar of social and school events.
The Parent Council is an advisory body that engages families in the education and development of students and helps deliver a calendar of social and school events. The council typically includes a minimum of 12 members: parents or guardians, community members or business partners, two certified full-time teachers, the vice principals, and the principal, with a two-year term. The council provides recommendations for school improvement and fosters collaboration among school administrators, teachers, parents, students, and the business community. Members can nominate themselves or others to join, and no special experience is required. Parents elect the council representatives, and involvement is open to families with a child currently enrolled at ECIS. The council works with the administration to plan and deliver events that engage the wider school community.
