Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The International Indian Public School Riyadh (IIPS) and its attached Special Care Centre (SCC) provide a positive learning environment aimed at academic, social, and emotional growth. The SCC offers evaluation and a Special Education Programme tailored to individual needs, along with pre-vocational and vocational training, therapeutic services, and family guidance and counseling. The Centre's approach uses Individual Education Plans (IEP) with termly objectives and ongoing progress monitoring, including small group instruction (about six students per teacher). A counsellor and a wellness teacher are listed among staff to support student wellbeing. Wellbeing initiatives include a Yoga Club for grades 4–7 that promotes stress reduction, enhanced concentration, and community-building.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The SCC is attached to IIPS Riyadh and is not a standalone SEN institution. The Centre provides Special Education and rehabilitation for differently-abled students including Autism, Down syndrome, Hydrocephalus, Dyslexia, Cerebral Palsy, ADHD, and learning disability. The educational framework uses Individual Education Plans (IEP) with termly objectives and progress monitoring, and keeps small class sizes (approximately six students per teacher). Therapeutic services include speech therapy and physiotherapy, along with pre-vocational and vocational training, and family guidance and counseling. Integration into mainstream is pursued through an Integration and Inclusion program, with SCC students often integrated into the school; dedicated special educators are listed in staff details.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

The school is CBSE-affiliated and operates as an English-medium institution. Explicit EAL-specific provisions are not published on the school's public pages. The curriculum framework notes multilingual and multicultural learning as part of its NEP 2020-aligned approach. A counsellor and wellness staff support student wellbeing, which can assist language learners in adjusting to the school environment. Based on publicly available information, a dedicated EAL program beyond English-medium instruction is not described.

Mental Wellbeing

Student mental wellbeing is supported by the SCC's emphasis on social and emotional growth, including family guidance and counseling services. The school lists a counsellor and a wellness teacher as part of its wellbeing staffing. The Yoga Club, introduced for grades 4–7, promotes physical and mental health by addressing stress and concentration. The SCC provides speech therapy and physiotherapy as part of its holistic approach to wellbeing. The NEP-aligned curriculum also highlights life skills and emotional health, reinforcing wellbeing across grade levels.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is supported by CCTV monitoring of school entrances and security staff at gates to enhance campus safety. A named counsellor and wellness teacher are part of the staff dedicated to safeguarding and student wellbeing. Family guidance and counseling services are offered through the SCC to support safeguarding in the home context. General rules emphasize disciplinary expectations and safe conduct, with structured parent communication and involvement. Public disclosures provide contact details and staff information to facilitate safeguarding and ongoing communication with families.
