The International Indian School Dammam was established on 10 October 1982 with 250 students and 15 teachers in portable cabins, inaugurated by the then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It was founded under the patronage of the Embassy of India in Riyadh, with the Indian Ambassador serving as the Patron. The school is governed by a Managing Committee elected by parents, with the Ambassador of India as Patron and oversight of broad policy, while the principal and staff handle daily operations. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and offers English-medium instruction across primary to senior secondary levels. Today the school serves a large student body with more than 650 teachers and a substantial administrative and support staff.
International Indian School Dammam maintains an active school community through inter-school CBSE events and campus activities. The school hosted the CBSE Saudi Chapter 31st Zonal Cluster Meet in 2023 in two phases, involving 15 participating schools and hundreds of students across more than 24 sports and literary competitions. The event drew attendees from member schools and CBSE observers, illustrating strong ties within the Indian expatriate community in the Eastern Province. In addition to cluster meets, the school runs internal events such as the Evening Games that engage students and families.
The school is governed by a Managing Committee elected by parents, with the Ambassador of India as Patron. A separate Parent-Teacher Association is not described in official materials; parent involvement is channeled through the Managing Committee. The Managing Committee includes parent representatives and alumni; for example, Misbahullah Ansari (an alumnus) has served as MC member, and Moazzam Gulam Abdul Kader Dadan is the Chairman. The Managing Committee sets broad policies and oversees day-to-day administration in coordination with the principal. The MC organizes and participates in major school events, including hosting CBSE cluster meets. Parents engage with the school through MC-led events and community activities, reinforcing ties with the Indian expatriate community.
