Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

International Indian School Al Jubail (IISJ) was founded on 30 November 1987 as the Embassy of India School, established through the efforts of the Indian community in Jubail under the patronage of the Ambassador of India and with the cooperation of the Directorate of Schools in Dammam and Riyadh. The school grew from portable cabins to four permanent buildings as enrolment expanded, with space added for the Junior Primary section from 2008–2009. A Silver Jubilee Block for girls was opened in 2012, and 18 additional classrooms were inaugurated on 29 March 2015. IISJ operates on a no-profit, no-loss basis and is affiliated with CBSE (Affiliation No. 5730007) under an MOE license (JEEM•5). The governance includes a Patron (the Indian Ambassador) and a School Management Committee chaired by Mr. R T R Prabu, with the Principal serving as the Member Secretary.

Community

The IISJ community centers on the Indian expatriate population in Jubail, supported by ongoing school events that celebrate the school's history and culture. The IISJ 38th Foundation Day Program was held on 27 November 2025 and streamed online, reflecting the community's continued commemorations of the school's legacy. The school participates in Bharat Scouts and Guides activities, including Cubs and Bulbul, as part of its co-curricular program, which fosters leadership and community service. In 2024, IISJ hosted the IISJUBAIL Interschool Winter Art Festival on 9 November 2024, highlighting regional collaboration in arts and student engagement.

Parent-Teacher Association

The formal channel for parent involvement at IISJ Jubail is the School Management Committee (SMC), which includes parent representatives and comprises seven members for the 2025–2028 tenure. Applications for parent membership were invited between 16–21 June 2025, with eligibility requiring the applicant to be a parent of a student at IIS Jubail and to provide supporting documents such as a CV and a brief note outlining plans to improve education, while ensuring representation by at least one female member. The Principal, Dr. Nisha Madhu, serves as the SMC's Member Secretary, while the committee is chaired by Mr. R T R Prabu. Subcommittees within the SMC include Academic & Finance and Admin to oversee specific domains, and members serve without remuneration. The SMC operates alongside the Patronage of H.E. Suhel Ajaz Khan, Ambassador of India, who supports the governing body and school leadership.
