Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

KiS was founded in 1995 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to serve both male and female learners from Kindergarten through Grade 12 in a multicultural environment. The school delivers a strong American curriculum within a learner-centered system and offers languages including English, Arabic, French and Mandarin. KiS provides Advanced Placement (AP) courses and is pursuing authorization for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) as part of its IB World School pathway. The school has been accredited by Cognia since 2013, reflecting its international accreditation status. KiS participates in the Learner's World International Schools Network (LWIS) and works with international partners to support its programs.

Community

KiS aims to create a safe, flexible, and nurturing learning environment in which students, teachers, staff, and families collaborate to support students' cognitive, emotional, and spiritual development. The school emphasizes a learner-centered, holistic approach and actively promotes partnerships with parents to support learners. KiS operates two campuses for girls and boys, each with multiple buildings and facilities designed to support a wide range of grades and activities, contributing to a vibrant school life. The community is multilingual and international, with instruction in English, Arabic, French and Mandarin, and it maintains global partnerships through the LWIS Network and Cognia accreditation.

Parent-Teacher Association

KiS describes parent partnership as a core aspect of its mission, aiming to empower learners through collaboration among students, families, faculty, and staff. Parent involvement occurs through channels such as the KiS Newsletter and the School Life section, which document events and activities. The KiS Connect alumni network provides events and opportunities for alumni to connect, network, and mentor current learners. The KiS Newsletter and KiS News publish coverage of school events and cultural programs, illustrating active community life and opportunities for parental participation. The school's global affiliations with the LWIS Network and Cognia underpin a globally connected community that includes families in its ongoing development and improvement efforts.
