It's best to ask — circumstances can change at any time.
Founded in 1948 by Lady Peake, wife of the British Ambassador, the Foreign School began with one staff member and parent volunteers teaching elementary students using British texts at the American Mission. By 1950 the school expanded to K-8 and changed its name to the International School of Belgrade in 1952. The campus relocated to its present Lower School location in 1957, with new buildings added over time. In 1962 the school began receiving U.S. Government financial grants, fostering relationships with U.S. universities and educational programs. Accreditation by NEASC and ECIS came in 1981, with IB program authorizations by 2010; ISB's growth continued with new campuses and a technology plan in 2009, and the school celebrated its 75th year in 2023.
ISB's community is led by the Director and a leadership team of administrators and coordinators. The Leadership Team includes Dr. Shary Marshall (Director), Dr. Jimena Zalba (Primary School Principal), Erik Lutley (Secondary School Principal), Snezana Hasanovic (Finance and Business Director), Branislav Nikolic (IT Director), Goran Zarubica (Facilities Manager), Ljiljana Balos (School Physician), Ryan Bollhorn (Head of Marketing and Communications), Todd Wain (Deputy Secondary Principal), Ivana Garic (Admissions Manager), and Chanda Pinsent (PYP Coordinator). The ISB Staff Directory and ISB Calendar provide resources for the community. The PTSA supports new families, promotes communication between parents and the school through activities such as room parents, coffee mornings, and seminars.
The PTSA is the Parent-Teacher-Student Association that supports new families, helps them settle in, and serves as a resource for established families. Through activities such as the room parents program, coffee mornings, and seminars, the PTSA promotes communication between parents and the school and helps build a supportive network. All parents, faculty, and administrative staff are automatically members and are welcome to attend meetings; the PTSA works closely with faculty representatives and Student Dragon Leaders. PTSA volunteers contribute to events and programs throughout the year. Contact: ptsa@isb.rs.
