The school was established in 1993 by a group of Christian families seeking an American education with a biblical worldview for their children in Singapore and has grown to serve families from over 30 nationalities.
The ICS community comprises families from more than 30 countries who participate in various events throughout the academic year. The school hosts cultural celebrations including International Day, when students showcase their national heritage through food, performances, and displays. Regular community gatherings such as the Fall Festival, Christmas Program, and Spring Concert bring together families, while parent volunteers contribute to classroom activities and school-wide events.
ICS has an active Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) focusing on building community connections and supporting school initiatives. The PTF organizes regular coffee mornings for parents to meet informally and discuss school matters with administrators in a relaxed setting. Parent volunteers coordinate grade-level activities, help with the annual International Day festival, and assist with the school's fundraisers. The PTF also manages a welcome program for new families, pairing them with current families to ease the transition into the school community. Parents can participate at various levels, from occasional event assistance to regular classroom support.
International Community School (ICS) caters for students aged 4 to 18 and follows the American curriculum. It culminates in a High School Diploma, with Advanced Placement (AP) courses also available.
