Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school prioritizes Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) by integrating it into the curriculum to foster personal effectiveness and well-being. Initiatives include dedicated pastoral care, programs designed to nurture values and emotional competencies, and a supportive environment that encourages positive relationships.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

NLCS supports students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through individualized programs and dedicated staff, including Learning Support Teachers and Teaching Assistants. While the school is not a specialist SEN institution, it provides assistance to students with mild learning difficulties.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

At NLCS (Singapore), students for whom English is an additional language receive specialized support to enhance their language proficiency. The school employs dedicated EAL staff who lead tailored programs to assist students in developing their English language skills. This support ensures that EAL students can fully engage with the curriculum and integrate seamlessly into the school community.

Mental Wellbeing

The school places a strong emphasis on mental wellbeing, offering a pastoral care system designed to support students' emotional and psychological health. This system includes dedicated staff such as the Emotional Guidance Counsellor, who provides individualized support and counseling services. The school also organizes programs and activities aimed at promoting resilience and coping strategies, fostering a nurturing environment where students feel valued and supported.

Safeguarding

NLCS upholds rigorous safeguarding and child protection policies to ensure the safety and welfare of all students. The school operates in compliance with Singapore's Child Protection Services and adheres to international standards for child protection. Designated safeguarding leads are responsible for addressing any concerns, ensuring that all staff are trained and aware of procedures to report and manage potential issues.
