Odyssey began its first campus at Wilkinson in 2008, and the Fourth Avenue campus commenced operations in 2011. Since then, the Odyssey group has expanded to include multiple campuses in Singapore and one in Malaysia. Fourth Avenue, along with Wilkinson, later obtained SPARK certification and participated in the IB journey; Fourth Avenue was recognised with the Singapore Environment Council School Green Award.
Parents at Odyssey are invited to participate in many school classroom activities such as story-telling, puppetry, cooking demonstrations, show-and-tells, and hands-on projects. Odyssey runs a Parent Support Group (PSG@Odyssey) that is made up of parent volunteers, the teacher coordinator, and the Centre Director, which meets bi-monthly to coordinate events, workshops, and seminars. The Fourth Avenue campus also holds themed environmental and sustainability events, for example “Happy Harvest”, where children grow plants and then set up a stall to harvest and sell produce. These events support a sense of ownership and participation among children, staff, and families.
Odyssey has a formal parent volunteer group called PSG@Odyssey. The group includes parent volunteers, a PSG Teacher Coordinator, and the Centre Director, and meets every two months to plan and organise campus events, parent workshops, seminars, and projects. Parents are given opportunities to engage directly in classroom-level events, such as story time, puppetry, cooking, show-and-tell, or helping with physical classroom projects, which allows them to contribute their skills to the children’s learning. Since the start of Odyssey in January 2008, parents have been considered partners in their children’s education, forming part of the community. The PSG helps facilitate home-school communication and collaboration, and invites all parents to join as volunteer members
