Odyssey Wilkinson was the first campus of Odyssey The Global Preschool, founded in 2008, making it the organisation’s flagship preschool in Singapore. The Wilkinson campus was where the group first introduced its Reggio Emilia-inspired philosophy in practice. Odyssey Wilkinson officially commenced its journey with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme in 2011, obtaining IB PYP authorisation in May 2013. Ownership lies under Odyssey The Global Preschool, which is part of the Busy Bees Asia family.
Parents are actively involved in the Wilkinson campus community via a Parents Support Group (PSG@Odyssey) that meets every two months to co-ordinate events, workshops, seminars, and centre initiatives. Classroom-level parent engagement is encouraged through storytelling, puppetry, cooking demonstrations, show-and-tells, and helping with classroom- or campus-based projects, allowing parents to contribute their skills directly in their child’s experience. Odyssey also hosts events such as Chinese Immersion Week across Wilkinson and other campuses, which involve students, teachers, and parent participation. These community and cultural events are designed to build home-school collaboration and shared learning.
Odyssey has a formal parent volunteer group called PSG@Odyssey. The group includes parent volunteers, a PSG Teacher Coordinator, and the Centre Director, and meets every two months to plan and organise campus events, parent workshops, seminars, and projects. Parents are given opportunities to engage directly in classroom-level events, such as story time, puppetry, cooking, show-and-tell, or helping with physical classroom projects, which allows them to contribute their skills to the children’s learning. Since the start of Odyssey in January 2008, parents have been considered partners in their children’s education, forming part of the community. The PSG helps facilitate home-school communication and collaboration, and invites all parents to join as volunteer members
