1. First-time application documents. The International French School of Ljubljana accepts children from 1 to 18 years old from all nationalities. For first-time enrollment in nursery, preschool, elementary, middle, or high school, provide the child's birth certificate (or equivalent), a photocopy of the parents' identity document or passport, and a vaccination certificate. If the child has previously studied at another school, include a certificate of withdrawal and the current year's school report.
2. Submit the enrollment application and contact for enrollment.
3. Arrival and departure during the year. Admission during the school year is possible (restricted for TPS admissions that can only be done until December 31 for pedagogical reasons). In this case, tuition fees are calculated based on the student's presence (all months are due in full). Leaving during the school year requires one month's notice to receive a proportional refund of tuition; any month started is due in full and other costs are non-refundable.
4. Payment, fees, and discounts. Tuition can be paid annually with a 4% discount, semi-annually in two installments, or via automatic monthly debit with a 2% discount. Discounts apply for siblings (4% for the 2nd child, 10% for the 3rd, 15% for the 4th, 20% for the 5th). Invoices for tuition and additional charges (outings, daycare, photos, meals, etc.) are issued and paid by bank transfer to the Parents Association account; cash payments are not accepted. Tuition is not subject to VAT. Late payment may incur default interest under Slovenian law, and non-payment can affect future enrollment.
5. Registration documents. Documents for registration to EFIL include Nursery: EN – Financial Regulation 2023-2024 (Creche-TPS); Kindergarten to High School: EN – Financial Regulation 2023-2024 -PS-lycée; and Contract: ENG_SLO Contract 2023-2024.
French families with low incomes can apply for tuition assistance in the form of scholarships. The scholarships cover total or partial tuition fees for the AEFE-affiliated French educational institutions. They are allocated according to the families' financial and patrimonial situation, their composition, and the financial burden of schooling; the scholarship is paid directly to the school. Award criteria and the calculation method are fixed by AEFE. The child of French nationality, registered in the French register outside France, must reside in the consular district with one or both parents and be enrolled in a French school; children in kindergarten must be 3 years old in the relevant calendar year to be eligible.
Ecole Française Internationale de Ljubljana is a French school affiliated with AEFE, serving ages 0 to 18. The school offers bespoke curriculum that weaves French and Slovenian cultures into daily learning, with a bilingual ethos. In the elementary years, English and Slovenian are taught as foreign languages by native-speaking teachers; English and Slovenian lessons total about 1 hour 45 minutes weekly, with English arts and music sessions of 45 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes depending on level. Slovenian instruction runs 2 to 3 hours per week. In middle school, language options extend to English, German, Spanish, Italian and Latin, delivered via CNED tutors, aligned with the French national program. High school leads to Baccalauréat. The school has welcomed students since 1992 and holds accreditation from the Slovenian Ministry of Education and Sports, while AEFE supports the bi-cultural, multilingual approach. Facilities include library, two gymnasia, outdoor spaces, and canteen service.
