1. Submit the Student Application Form. Please follow the link to the Student Application Form. Once the initial application form is received, you will receive an email inviting you to submit any missing documents to complete the student's file. You may also arrange a school visit or tour as part of the admissions process.
2. Submit Documents. The documents include one passport-size photo; a copy of the residence permit and passport; and vaccination records. For Pre-K applicants, the vaccination form must be completed by a pediatrician. For ages 5-10, provide copies of previous school records for the current and prior school year; for ages 11-15, provide copies of school records for the last three school years; High School students must submit official transcripts.
3. Pay the Registration Fee. After the Student Application Form and accompanying documents are received, you will receive an invoice for the Registration Fee—a one-time non-refundable fee of EUR 1050. The invoice confirms the registration and instructs payment details. The fee is non-refundable.
4. Schedule the Placement Test. Schedule a time with the LIS Admissions team to take the school's placement test and sit for an interview with the school's administration. The MAP (NWEA Measures of Academic Progress) computerized adaptive test provides initial placement data for Reading, Mathematics, and Language Usage, and all three tests are administered in English. Students aged eight and older also complete a writing task or essay. English proficiency is considered; LIS does not require English fluency to enroll, but older students require more English proficiency; if the placement test shows below grade level or additional support is needed, the Intensive English program may be provided at an additional fee.
5. Notification of Admission. Upon review of the application, student records, and placement recommendations, you will receive a notification of admission along with the education contract and tuition invoice for the first installment. If admission is offered, payment and signing of contracts lead to a welcome letter from the Head of School and information about the first day. A buddy will be assigned to help your child during the initial days, and weekly newsletters will keep you informed about events and PTO opportunities. If LIS cannot admit your child, you will receive an explanation of the circumstances that led to this decision.
Ljubljana International School provides PreK-12 international education with an American-based curriculum complemented by the IB Primary Years, Middle Years, and Diploma Programs. The campus network serves students aged 3 to 18 across two campuses, totaling 2,863 square meters of facilities. All core subjects are taught in English, and the school offers AP Capstone alongside an American high school diploma, enabling a dual-path option within a single school community. The curriculum also includes the IB Primary Years Program, IB Middle Years Program, and IB Diploma Program, as well as pathways like Accelerated Math and Differentiated English to support varied learning needs. Technology is integrated across the curriculum, and students engage in a broad after-school program of sports, music, languages, and clubs.
