The Network of International Christian Schools (NICS) began in Uijeongbu in 1983 as Liberty Christian School, under the leadership of Joe Hale. In 1990, elementary branches were started in Seoul and Songtan; after an accrediting visit in April 1991, NICS schools earned full six-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in June 1991. A dual accreditation by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and WASC was completed in 1997. In 2003, the International Christian School of Songtan moved to its present location in Pyeongtaek and was renamed International Christian School of Pyeongtaek (ICSP). In Fall 2014, ICSP purchased the property behind its campus to construct a gym/multi-purpose facility; ground-breaking occurred in May 2015 and the facility was completed in October 2015, with an accreditation visit in April 2016 and accreditation renewed in June 2016.
ICSP offers a US-based educational program staffed by certified teachers who go above and beyond to cultivate a safe and welcoming learning environment, and to help students develop a biblical worldview. The student body includes Korean nationals, US military families, US military contractors, and international families, representing more than 10 nations. The school emphasizes academics, athletics, extracurriculars, and mentoring as part of Identity, Character, Scholarship, and Purpose. ICSP seeks to partner with families on the educational journey.
The ICSP PTA runs the Reflections program, a National PTA and Washington State PTA cultural arts competition. The 2025-26 Reflections theme is "I Belong." Entries may be submitted in six arts areas: Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Film/Video, and Choreography/Dance. The submission process includes online entries, rules, a Quick Reference, and submission details. For questions, reflections@icsptsa.org is provided.
