Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Arts and Creative

The school maintains a long-standing calligraphy education program to preserve Chinese cultural heritage. Calligraphy instruction continued online during the pandemic and now occurs in small-group in-person sessions. A former principal provided calligraphy practice sheets that incorporate the text of Dizigui to encourage thoughtful handwriting and a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture. Each year, a calligraphy competition is held as part of the Traditional Chinese character culture festival, making it a core school activity.

Cultural and Language

The school emphasizes Chinese culture and heritage as a central part of student life in Busan. It participates in the annual Traditional Chinese character culture festival, where a calligraphy competition is regularly held. Cultural demonstrations such as diabolo performances are presented during celebrations, reflecting language and cultural traditions. These activities support students' understanding of Chinese culture within the overseas community.

Community and Service

The school engages in charitable activities, including fundraising in support of the Hualien earthquake relief through the Taipei representative office in Busan; funds totaling 1,335,000 KRW were raised, and the broader network raised 3,396,020 KRW in total. In 2023, the school coordinated UNICEF fundraising, with contributions from Busan Overseas Chinese School and related institutions totaling 1,592,020 KRW. These initiatives demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility and community outreach.

Leadership and Professional

The school hosts a leadership-oriented public-speaking event, the President's Cup Speech Contest, organized by the Busan Overseas Chinese School Council. Students prepare speeches on topics such as their future dreams, with practice focusing on pronunciation and expression. Judges include the council president and invited officials, underscoring the development of leadership, language skills, and public speaking.
