Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Student wellbeing is a core focus at Baleares International College. The school is committed to the growth and wellbeing of each student, supporting physical, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development. Personal mentoring and close pastoral care are central to the British-style education on offer. A strong partnership with parents is encouraged to support students through clear two-way communication and reinforcement of expectations at home and at school. Teaching staff regularly assess students' needs and performance using UK standards, and learning occurs in small classes with a Learning Support Assistant to help individual engagement and smooth integration for new students. Early intervention is used to identify and address problems promptly.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Teaching staff regularly assess students' needs and performance according to UK standards. A Learning Support Assistant supports students to enable active engagement in lessons. Classes are kept small to promote individual attention and easier participation. The school places emphasis on early intervention to identify and address difficulties. The overall goal is to enable every student to progress and thrive within the British education framework.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

As a British school, all lessons are delivered in English. A large team of specialist language teachers, whose mother tongues match the languages they teach, supports language learning. All students have the opportunity to learn Spanish, Catalan, German and French. The school provides a comprehensive English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme delivered by highly-qualified and experienced specialist teachers. For students in the early stages of English, EAL support is provided in small groups or one-to-one. The school has Language for Results accreditation for high-quality EAL provision, recognized by The Bell Foundation.

Mental Wellbeing

An experienced team of staff focuses on the wellbeing of students and ensures their social and academic progress. Personal mentoring and close pastoral care are central to the school's British-style education. A Leader of Wellbeing oversees wellbeing at each campus: Mrs Fiona Von Waberer at Sa Porrassa and Ms Eccleshall at Sant Agustí. The wellbeing team supports students through early identification and targeted interventions when needed. The approach fosters a supportive community that helps students develop resilience and confidence.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is a core priority at Baleares International College and the safety and wellbeing of all students are actively promoted. The school is committed to safeguarding and has designated Leaders of Wellbeing at each campus to address concerns. If you have any concerns, contact the Leader of Wellbeing at Sa Porrassa, Mrs Fiona Von Waberer. If you have any concerns, contact the Leader of Wellbeing at Sant Agustí, Ms Eccleshall. The safeguarding framework emphasizes open two-way communication with families and prompt action when concerns arise.
