Billing schedule and payment terms
- The school year is organised into three terms; tuition and service charges are billed on a termly basis. There are two payment options: pay termly in advance (three equal instalments) or make a single annual payment at the start of the school year.
- Payment method: fees are collected by direct debit. Late payment entitles the school to charge statutory interest and other damages; non‑payment can prevent the pupil from taking part in activities, sitting external exams, or continuing at the school the following year. Transport and meal fees are annual amounts billed in three equal termly instalments and must be paid in advance or by single annual payment.

Refunds and deregistration
- The new‑student enrolment fee (EUR 1,800.00) is non‑reimbursable. The re‑enrolment fee (EUR 400.00) is non‑refundable except in the limited circumstances set out in the enrolment terms where a refund may be made.
- Deregistration rules: if a place is relinquished before the school year starts but after the place has been assigned, the school may require payment of the first term's fees and will retain the enrolment fee. If leaving during the academic year, one (1) month's written notice before the effective date is required and fees must be paid up to the effective deregistration date. If required notice is not given, one full term's fees from the effective deregistration date are payable; the enrolment fee will also be retained in such cases. Time off register for periods between one week and a full year requires payment of full tuition for that period and must be requested at least three months in advance.

Boarding
- No boarding provision applies; the school operates as a day school and boarding fees are not applicable.

Other costs payable separately
- Uniforms, textbooks and optional extra‑curricular activities are not included in sundry charges and must be paid for separately by families. Exact costs for uniforms and textbooks are set outside the standard fees schedule and are payable in addition to tuition and sundry charges.

Summary of how charges appear on invoices
- Typical invoice lines include: tuition (term), sundry charges (term), lunch (term) and transport (term) if selected; the new‑student enrolment fee is charged once and deducted per the school's fee schedule; sibling discounts are applied to tuition where applicable. Late or unpaid fees carry consequences as set out above.

Admissions

Admissions

The British Council School Madrid is non-selective and provides a bilingual and bicultural education based on the English National Curriculum. There are no admissions tests for Early Years. Most pupils begin at age three and stay with us, and we admit new pupils across all year groups; places are offered according to availability and our assessment of whether potential pupils can fully integrate with the rest of their class. From Year 2, future pupils must also take the corresponding entrance tests. From Year 3 onwards, applicants complete an online CAT4 cognitive abilities test and an English written assessment, with a non-refundable 30€ admissions assessment fee. The admissions process consists of five steps: Visit (booking is essential), Application for Admission, Admissions Committee decision (1–3 weeks after completing the process), Reservation (bank transfer of the amount indicated for the year), and Next Steps (information sessions and familiarisation with the course, teachers and the school community). The school's timetable includes English and Spanish language instruction, with approximately 20% of the weekly timetable devoted to Spanish Language and Culture. At the end of Secondary Education (Year 11) the school applies for homologation of studies so that pupils obtain the Spanish Ministry of Education's Compulsory Secondary Education qualification (ESO).

Scholarships

Alumni scholarships are offered for Early Years education and enrolment.
