Clothing can be casual and comfortable but must be presentable. No tops with offensive slogans. Boys must not wear singlet T‑shirts. Girls must not bare midriff or wear strap tops less than two fingers in width or off‑the‑shoulder. Shorts and skirts should be at least the length of a closed fist with hands by the side. Repeated dress‑code issues may be sanctioned.
Lunch is eaten between 1:10 pm and 1:30 pm in designated areas (Marquee, Middle covered patio, or Dining Room). Food and drink must be consumed in these areas; no eating in classrooms. Bottled water is allowed at breaks.
Three Houses: Kings, Wilberforce, and Cervantes. House points are awarded for academic and sporting achievements as well as behaviour, tallied throughout the year; the winning house is decided on Sports Day. At the start of the year, Head Boy, Head Girl, and House Captains (one boy and one girl from the sixth form) are elected to represent the student body.
The school is completely independent and does not receive government or other subsidies; fees fund staff and materials; A Level exam costs are included in the A Level fees.
Colégio Hispano Británico Lanzarote delivers the British National Curriculum for students aged 5 to 18, blending English with Spanish, German and Chinese language study. It is an independent school and a British School Overseas (BSO) accredited centre, hosting Cambridge International Examinations, Edexcel and Trinity assessments, and providing UCAS and Open University access. Founded in 1976, it is the island's sole Lanzarote school accredited to teach the British curriculum abroad and an official Cambridge examination centre. The campus, set on extensive grounds near the golf course in Puerto del Carmen, offers a safe, multicultural learning environment designed to foster interaction. Students typically take around 14 GCSE subjects, with some pursuing up to 17, and may continue with Cambridge A Levels or BTEC qualifications into first– or second-year university study. A notable feature is the Environmental Management approach to Geography, with strong language provision and a house system supporting leadership and community.
