At the beginning of 1986, a group of parents in the south of Tenerife sought to create a private school with personalized education. The course began in October 1986 with 35 students and two classes on municipal land provided by the Adeje City Council, and the school was inaugurated in April 1987. In 1996 a Humbi center for children aged 0 to 2 opened, followed by a 2003 expansion that housed the secretariat, administration, teachers' room and a large assembly hall. In 2012, for the 25th anniversary, a pavilion with stands for nearly 1,000 people and three outdoor tennis courts was inaugurated, and in 2019 a new ESO/Baccalaureate building began operating, giving the campus 10,000 m2. In 2022 Costa Adeje Academy was launched to prepare students for Cambridge English certifications; today more than 1,020 students from 40 nationalities are enrolled with around 120 staff.
The center is located in the municipality of Adeje, where tourism and services shape the economy and contribute to linguistic and multicultural diversity through immigration, predominantly from European countries. Our students reside in nearby municipalities including Arona, San Miguel, Granadilla, Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide. The south of the island offers a wide cultural and sports offer, with cinemas, libraries, cultural centers and sports halls near the sea. Following the LOMLOE concept of co-responsibility in education, the center establishes commitments with institutions to improve educational quality.
