The curriculum offers the core subjects of English and Mathematics, with science, geography and history brought into topic-based learning. Outdoor Learning (Urban Forest School) is embedded in the curriculum in Years 1–6, developing leadership and teamwork as children learn about nature. Learning outside the classroom is enriched by regular curricular trips to museums, art galleries, theatres and the zoo. Literacy and numeracy are taught across the year groups with a cross-curricular and practical emphasis, and STEM is integrated with core topics.
The Arts are central to life at Dallington, with music, drama and visual arts fully integrated into the curriculum. The program includes regular workshops from external professionals in Circus Skills, Dance Days, African drummers, jazz guitarists and world musicians, and features the Dallington Choir and whole-school singing assemblies. Children learn to play instruments through a Kodaly-inspired approach and have access to private lessons, including Guildhall School of Music & Drama tutors. They also visit museums and galleries as part of their art exploration and perform regularly.
French is taught through total immersion and focuses first on listening and speaking before introducing reading and writing; in years 4–6 students begin reading and writing in French and may have pen friends in France and other French-speaking countries. The learning process is led without translation, enabling direct connections between experiences and words. The school supports English as an Additional Language with tailored language development resources, often in partnership with external specialists. The multilingual community is celebrated through language awareness projects and cultural events.
The Student Council includes a representative from each year group, with candidates presenting manifestos and peers voting for the best voices. It provides a forum for pupils to voice their views and takes on leadership and development opportunities, fostering democracy and global citizenship. The Council has initiated projects such as a lunchtime board games club and a Science Fair, and is involved in fundraising for Children in Need. Extracurricular Clubs range from Inventors and Street Dance to London Lens Project, Debutots, Art Club and Code Cadets, with after‑school care and instrumental lessons available.
The Student Council coordinates charity work and broader community involvement, including fundraising for Children in Need. There is a strong collaboration with families as part of the Dallington Journey, with open communication and termly progress meetings. The SCRAP project provides recycled materials for child‑led play during lunch and breaks, supporting community creativity and sustainable practices.
Leadership and development are embedded in school life through the Student Council, which offers pupils real leadership opportunities and a platform to influence school life, democracy and accountability. The Council also supports pupils in planning and delivering projects, helping them develop civic and cooperative skills.
