Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

The school offers education from 1st grade through the third year of upper secondary school. Each day starts in base groups where students discuss how to structure the day and their academic and social development with their base teacher. Student involvement and tailored instruction are important, and classes rotate responsibility to contribute at monthly morgensamlinger (morning gatherings).

Arts and Creative

The school has a school song, Skolesangen, with lyrics by Hallvard Lundgård and music by Kim Larsen; an mp3 is available. The Billedgalleri documents school events, including Kreativ samarbeidsuke (creative collaboration week) and MOT-related activities. MOT events such as MOT til å glede are represented in the gallery as part of student-led creative and cultural activities.

Cultural and Language

Norwegian cultural traditions are celebrated, including 17. mai (Norwegian Constitution Day) events documented in the gallery. The school presents a creative community with people at the center as part of its cultural program. The Skolesangen and other cultural activities are showcased on the site.

Social and Hobbies

Kanonballturnering is organized for all classes and staff. A social event titled Magisk kveld med ball was held for students in grades 4–8. The image gallery also features MOT events and other student-led social activities, reflecting a broad range of school life outside the classroom.

Community and Service

MOT includes a five‑year program called Skolen som samfunnsbygger that strengthens the school as a culture builder. Each year begins with Hei!-kampanjen to promote an inclusive, safe school environment, and staff participate in MOT team-building sessions. The gallery shows solidarity and charitable activities such as Solidaritetsdag and Caritas events.

Leadership and Professional

Young students are recruited as MOTivators to participate in MOT work at DNSR. MOT programs include Robust ungdom for ages 12–16 and 16–25, plus the Skolen som samfunnsbygger program that develops leadership and school culture. The school emphasizes leadership development through these MOT activities and school-wide programs initiated at the start of each academic year.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

MOT programs aim to strengthen resilience, life skills, and a safe, inclusive environment across different school levels. The school emphasizes regular MOT team-building and continued coaching throughout the year. The site promotes a lifestyle focus—describing DNSR as 'More than just school – a lifestyle' with attention to quality of life, balance, daylight, activity, and energy in daily life.
