EFIM is a preschool and elementary school offering an innovative trilingual education accredited by the French Ministry of National Education. Languages taught are French, Spanish and English, with native teachers for each language, and instruction designed to develop multilingualism and interculturality. The school operates in a plurilingual and pluricultural environment, with education from Petite Section (PS) to CM2.
The EFIM Marbella provides a trilingual education in French, Spanish and English from kindergarten, in a fully immersive and varied environment, with native teachers for French, English and Spanish.
About 50% of learning time is devoted to languages: 25% of the time in language classes (divided between English and Spanish) and 25% in co-teaching across subjects in English or Spanish assisted by the French teacher. There are formal learning times in each language, and the languages are used in other school times through immersion. Disciplines from the French national program are taught in English or Spanish through co-teaching, and History-Geography of France and Spain is taught in the language of the country. Supplementary language-focused extracurricular activities exist. For end of cycle 3, the school can organize language certifications in French, Spanish and English: DELF, DELE, Cambridge.
École Française Internationale Marbella delivers the official French National Education curriculum for ages 2 to 11. Preschool and primary programs are homologated by the French Ministry of National Education and operate within the AEFE framework. The school uses a hybrid model that blends the French curriculum with trilingual instruction in French, English and Spanish, delivered by native-speaking teachers. The central objective is to learn how to learn, developing executive, affective, social and metacognitive skills to adapt in a changing world. The campus is in central Marbella, a quiet residential area, opposite Parque de los Enamorados and near the sea, offering a tri-lingual, multicultural learning environment. Facilities include two outdoor courtyards, a dining hall and a multi-sport hall/gym, a media library, Fab-Lab, Archéo-Lab and Creative-Lab, plus a Nenuphar mindfulness room, a Green Space and a Pôle-Santé Health Hub. After-school programs provide opportunities to speak French and engage in varied clubs beyond regular hours.
