Extra-Curricular Activities

Clubs, activities, and opportunities to explore interests and passions

Academic and Intellectual

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (DofE) is offered at KR3 and is the world's leading youth achievement award. The Award has Bronze, Silver and Gold levels and four sections: Service, Skills, Physical Recreation and Adventurous Journey; Gold also includes a Residential Project. At KR3, Bronze is available in Year 10 and Silver or Gold can be pursued in Years 12–13, with the programme led by three experienced teachers. The Award fosters voluntary service, personal development, physical recreation and adventurous journeys.

Arts and Creative

KR3 has a renowned theatre program with productions that attract audiences from the school and wider island. Recent shows include Oliver, The Wiz, Bugsy Malone, Richard III and Henry V, and Primary pupils have staged The Jungle Book and Alice in Wonderland. A 350-seat theatre in Paguerà is used for musical productions and events such as Prizegiving.

Cultural and Language

KR3 follows the English National Curriculum and provides bilingual education by offering the Spanish Bachillerato in parallel. Languages available include French, German and Spanish. The school hosts an international community with students from many countries, with more than 40 nationalities represented in the community. KR3 is described as a truly international British international school on Mallorca.

Social and Hobbies

KR3 runs a rich after-school extracurricular program with clubs for students and parents, including a creche for younger children. Clubs cover sporty, creative and learning-enhancement activities, with the list changing each half-term. Due to COVID-19 regulations, clubs are offered to children in the same class and mixing groups is not permitted at the moment. Clubs run after school and help broaden friendships and skills.

Community and Service

The Student Council organises charity events each year for the whole school community, such as Halloween Scary Movie Competition, Christmas Fayre, Valentines Flower Sale and a 15km Sponsored Walk. Each academic year a charity is chosen as the Focus Charity, with all money raised donated at year-end celebrations. The KR3 community has led to annual donations of more than €14,000. In 2020/21 the Focus Charity was AECC – Asociación Española Contra El Cáncer, and in 2021/22 it was Aldeas Infantiles.

Leadership and Professional

Senior Students in Year 13 may apply for Head Boy and Head Girl, who act as ambassadors for the school at public events. The School Council includes Year 13 leaders who can become Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and Business Manager to coordinate community and charity events. The Council comprises two representatives from each year group to share ideas and perspectives. The Primary School operates a House System with Year 6 House Captains leading their houses in competitions, and Housepoints recognizing work, effort and extra-curricular contributions, including Olympic Day track and field events.

Lifestyle and Wellbeing

Secondary life is enriched by a program of trips and excursions that include cultural, sporting and departmental field trips. Residential trips have included PortAventura & Tarragona, a London trip, and a School Ski Trip to Andorra/Sierra Nevada, with additional day trips such as Mondrago Beach, Palma galleries, Christmas markets and theatre visits. The school also has off-site facilities for sport and well-being, including an indoor pool, sailing club and equestrian centre, and a 350-seat theatre is used for musical productions and major events such as Prizegiving.
