Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

The Lycée Français, in its current form as a school, was established in Barcelona in 1924. It has educated more than three generations of students to date. The school's ambition is to strengthen cultural links between Spain and France through daily contact with students who may have different nationalities but who are educated by the same teachers and imbued with the same knowledge. The Lycée continues to build on its traditions while also constantly striving to modernize itself to ensure that its students have the best possible start into the Europe of the third millennium.

Community

The LFB hosts students from more than 73 nationalities, and conversations occur in multiple languages, with everyone contributing their culture. It is part of a global network that promotes openness toward other cultures. The main campus is in Pedralbes and the preschool campus is on Munner street. Parent involvement is supported by associations: the Parent Association (APE) offers afterschool care, a school bus service and year‑round extracurricular activities; the LFB Sports Association (AELFB) organizes inter‑school basketball, handball and volleyball games; and the School Sports Association (ASS) enables middle‑ and high‑school students to participate in competitions or enjoy sports.

Parent-Teacher Association

APE is the Parent Association and offers afterschool care for preschoolers every evening, a school bus service and year‑round extracurricular activities. The AELFB is the LFB Sports Association and transmits values of camaraderie, friendship and discipline along with athletics; basketball, handball and volleyball games are organized against other schools in Barcelona. The ASS is a school sports association modeled after the French A.S.S. (School Athletic Association), organized by LFB PE teachers; it allows middle school and high school students to participate in school competitions or simply participate in sports for fun.
