Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The CESCE (Committee for Education in Health, Citizenship and the Environment) coordinates wellbeing initiatives and the student health pathway. The school runs a Health and Wellbeing Week for students at the Conde de Orgaz and Saint-Exupéry campuses, covering nutrition, adolescence, and addictions across year groups. Sessions aim to prevent harm, inform students and empower them to take responsibility for their wellbeing. Desactivando el racismo y la xenofobia sessions, led by CEPAIM, promote an inclusive, respectful school environment and help students reflect on racism and xenophobia to develop equality and mutual respect. The annual Citizenship and Solidarity Day encourages student participation in NGO projects and fundraising for solidarity causes.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English is taught as a living language as part of the AEFE multilingual policy, with English included among the living languages offered at all levels. The weekly timetable shows English as a language taught alongside other living languages (Spanish, German or Italian) across the school, indicating a structured, school‑wide language program. The school pursues a plurilingual education framework consistent with AEFE guidance.

Mental Wellbeing

The school's health and citizenship program integrates the student health pathway and the CESCE framework to support wellbeing. Activities focus on nutrition, adolescence and addictions, with age‑appropriate initiatives across collège levels. The CESCE program includes preventive education and awareness activities to promote healthy habits and responsible behavior. The school collaborates with external partners (e.g., CEPAIM, Pantallas Amigas, and the police) to deliver targeted sessions on safety, online conduct and mental wellbeing.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is addressed through CESCE and related wellbeing initiatives, including programs to prevent cyberharassment and to promote digital safety. Sessions such as Desactivando el racismo y la xenofobia and cyber‑safety work with external partners (e.g., CEPAIM, Pantallas Amigas) to educate students and staff. The school provides guidance on reporting harmful online content and encourages dialogue with school staff when concerns arise; law‑enforcement partners contribute to protective education, including safety and reporting mechanisms. The Madrid autonomous community protocols are referenced as part of the safeguarding framework to support students and families.

Located on two campuses, Conde de Orgaz in Madrid and La Moraleja in Alcobendas, the Lycée Français de Madrid is a French national school within the AEFE network, welcoming pupils from ages 2 to 18. It delivers the French curriculum with living-language options in English, German and Spanish; English is taught in the Primary Department, while the second language program includes German with mobility experiences such as Strasbourg. An English-language strand, Anglais Monde Contemporain, and a DNL-SES in English support language immersion across primary and secondary levels. The school operates on a 10-hectare site at Conde de Orgaz and Moraleja, each with facilities, mediathèques and theatres, plus sports facilities. Since 2013 the school has pursued sustainability initiatives. A program includes Labo et Club de Maths, Sciences et Technologie projects, and LFM Radio, as well as arts activities like Musique and Théâtre, plus cross-European projects such as EUROmad and Projet Niger.
