Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

LFIM has operated for 50 years, offering high-quality French education with an international, multicultural, multilingual, and secular vision. Teaching is its passion, and it combines knowledge with universal humanist values within a personalized and family-like environment to ensure the well-being of its students. Throughout its schooling, students learn three languages: French, Spanish, and English.

Community

LFIM describes its community as strongly united and committed to the success and well-being of its students. It forms a community with families that is deeply engaged in the students' welfare, promoting a calm, inclusive, tolerant, and respectful learning climate from a multicultural and multilingual perspective, addressing each student's needs and aspirations. The student body comprises learners aged 2 to 18 and about 20 nationalities; the languages of instruction are French and Spanish, with English as a third mandatory language. The student–teacher relationship is based on mutual respect and understanding arising from diversity and multiculturalism, and LFIM creates spaces for coexistence across generations to foster a sense of belonging, celebrating activities such as choirs, performances, sports events, markets, exhibitions, and bios markets.

Parent-Teacher Association

Families are organized into two associations: APAELM (Association of Parents of LFIM students) and ALI Molière (Independent List Association). These associations inform, communicate, and provide the resources to carry out their work. Families participate actively in the school community and in decision-making that affects the school's future. The educational team maintains ongoing contact with families to monitor the progress of each student at all levels: academic, personal, and social. The School Council is the primary governance body for the primary school; it brings together representatives of primary parents, primary teachers, and the Administration; it meets three times a year and is consulted for advice on the functioning of the school and school life. The Center Council is the main governing body of the establishment and includes elected representatives from all members of the educational community (students, parents, staff), with the management team, the head of the diplomatic office, and the Secretary General of the MLF as ex officio members; consular advisers participate on a consultative basis.
