Madrid Montessori was founded in 2006 to offer a respectful and stimulating learning environment for children. It began as a single-classroom school in Chamberí, Madrid, with twelve families sharing a holistic view of childhood. In 2009 the school moved to Calle Henares in El Viso, with spaces for ages 3 to 6, and in September 2016 opened the Genil 11 campus, consolidating all programs in one building. Education is a lifelong process in which classrooms are prepared to meet developmental needs and adults and spaces serve the children, helping them develop abilities, solve problems, and strengthen their sense of self. Madrid Montessori is an American school in Madrid, recognized by the Middle States Association (MSA) and by the Comunidad de Madrid's Education Council; accreditation began in 2012 and was reaccredited in 2019 for seven years.
Parents choose Madrid Montessori for the school's philosophy and the belief in the link between school life and family life. Beyond academics, we aim to help children develop intangible talents such as problem-solving, resilience when facing new situations, and social awareness essential for navigating the 21st century. Madrid Montessori was founded on open, ongoing communication between the school and families, and parents are encouraged to share feedback and volunteer in school activities. Volunteer opportunities include gardening, birthday cake preparation for the Infant Community and Children's House, organizing meals and fundraising events, library work, accompanying primary excursions and plays, the newsletter, and serving on Planning and Safety and Health committees; parents may also lead workshops in carpentry and crafts.
