Moderato International Barcelona welcomes children aged 15 months to 9 years in a 500 m2 space comprising 3 classrooms and a large tree-lined courtyard. A new primary class for 6–9 year olds opened in September 2024. The school is located on the ground floor of a building in the Putxet neighborhood, at Carrer de Lucà 8, midway between the Pedralbès and Gràcia districts.
Education is based on key elements of the French education system with a pedagogy adapted to each child's pace. The school is organized into three cycles: Communauté enfantine (15 months–3 years), Maternelle (3–6 years), and Primaire (6–9 years). Classes are multilingual with French as the main language, and English and Spanish integrated, with Catalan introduced during the year. The school uses Montessori materials to support learning, organized into five areas in preschool—practical life, sensoriel, language, culture, and mathematics; in primary, the practical life and sensoriel areas are replaced by other learning areas to accommodate broader study and collaboration. The primary class is equipped with Montessori materials to support mathematics and language development. Teaching emphasizes autonomy with individualized follow-up and small-group work.
Autonomous Montessori workshops are used across five areas in preschool, with additional science and geography workshops offered autonomously. The school provides English-language instruction for music and yoga, and Spanish language sessions are integrated through swimming and dedicated language classes, with Catalan introduced to give students exposure to the regional language. Moderato participates in European projects under the Erasmus+ program, beginning with Crowd School (September 2020–August 2023), which connected European partners to explore digital heritage, education, and cross-border collaboration.
