Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Oakley College provides strong pastoral care and tutor support. Each student has a form tutor responsible for pastoral care, with daily registration and a PSHE programme. The school maintains close links with parents through regular workshops and information evenings. When needed, the school identifies specific learning or emotional needs through psycho-pedagogical testing and may create an Educational Health Care Plan with the parents, child, teacher and SENCO to set targets that can be academic, social or emotional. Socio-emotional or mental health difficulties are addressed through specialized meetings with families and internal monitoring, with referrals to external therapeutic professionals when appropriate. The school also runs a mediation and anti-bullying programme and Learning Support Groups to differentiate learning in English, Spanish and mathematics.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Oakley College identifies and supports students with Special Educational Needs through psycho-pedagogical testing and early identification. The school uses curricular adaptations, targeted interventions and, when necessary, external professional input to support learning. If a learning or developmental disability is suspected, the school can refer for an outside diagnosis. An Educational Health Care Plan is created with the parents, child, teacher and SENCO to set individual targets, with progress reviewed at year end. Students with a recognized SEN may receive Special Accommodations for internal exams (e.g., extra time or assistive technology). In addition, social-emotional support and small-group interventions are offered; Learning Support Groups provide targeted help in English, Spanish and mathematics with learning support assistants.

Mental Wellbeing

Pastoral care and targeted mental health support underpin wellbeing at Oakley College. Socio-emotional or mental health needs are addressed through meetings with families, school monitoring and referrals to external therapeutic services when needed. An Educational Health Care Plan supports targeted social and emotional development with annual progress reviews. Digital wellbeing resources inform staff, students and families about online wellbeing, with guidance on regular conversations, wellbeing settings and apps, and tips for healthy online habits. Parent resources and a digital wellbeing eBook are available to support wellbeing at home and at school.
