Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Saint Andrew's School opened its doors in 2013. The founder and head teacher studied at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and later lived in remote villages in the Highlands, where her own children attended small rural schools and learned in composite classes. She moved to recreate a high-quality, nurturing educational model in the north of Tenerife, selecting El Sauzal for its safe surroundings and accessible location. The school grew quickly, largely through personal recommendations, while remaining a small, family-style British school focused on individual care. The full British curriculum is delivered in English from Early Years, with Spanish language and sciences taught from Year 2 and French introduced from Year 3.

Community

Saint Andrew's developed a growing community built on trust and personal recommendations, quickly reaching full capacity while preserving a small, family-style British school. It aims to create a friendly, happy atmosphere where every child feels valued and secure, integrating quickly at all levels. Staff care and close teacher-pupil relationships ensure individual attention and encouragement. Language immersion and the British curriculum shape daily life and the development of confident, globally-minded students.
