Scandinavian School of Madrid is a Swedish international day school serving children from 18 months to 18 years. The school operates two sections: a Swedish section where instruction is in Swedish and an International section where instruction is in English. The International section follows the Cambridge curriculum, with preschool through secondary education and a Sixth Form offering Cambridge A-Levels. Cambridge Checkpoints are taken at the end of Year 6 and IGCSE at the end of Year 11. Founded in 1944, the school is a non-profit association of parents and a 400-student community with high teacher density. Music is a feature since 2011, with lessons and concerts that foster community. A courtyard supports activities, and the day allows after-school clubs. The school is accredited by NEASC, a member of CIS, NABSS accredited, and Cambridge Assessment International Education authorized, with Spanish Ministry of Education approval. KiVa and My Happy Mind support student wellbeing.
