The students are the main protagonists and the reason for the school's existence. Learning takes place in a climate of coexistence and respect, which are keys to the holistic development of people. The school's long experience and ability to adapt to new educational challenges support the quality of its teaching. It accompanies children through all stages of growth, establishing a solid emotional base so that students can face future challenges. The educational system focuses on daily monitoring of the student, using the management of tutors and the experience of the teaching staff.
The project is trilingual (English, Catalan and Spanish), enabling students to acquire solid linguistic competence in all three languages. Catalan, Spanish and English are taught not only as languages themselves but also as vehicular languages for other learning. Various subjects are taught alternately in English across the different educational stages: Physical Education, Arts and Crafts, Science, Geography; and in Spanish: Mathematics, Religion, History, or Economics. To certify these learnings, during schooling at SIL, students complete more hours of English instruction to successfully pass Cambridge exams (Movers, Starters and Flyers in primary; PET, KEY, First or Advanced in secondary). These exams are conducted at the center and are validated by the University of Cambridge. A French language program is introduced in compulsory secondary education (ESO), and students prepare for the DELF or the DALF according to the level acquired over four years. The certificates obtained for English and/or French have CE recognition, and the school is linked to Cambridge International School.
Daily monitoring of students by tutors and experienced teaching staff supports students' mental wellbeing. A climate of coexistence and respect fosters emotional balance. Located in the area of Barcelona, SIL School offers a bespoke bilingual-trilingual education for ages 0 to 18, combining Cambridge Primary and Cambridge Secondary curricula with a Preschool to Baccalaureate pathway. The school teaches in English, Catalan, and Spanish, using all languages as languages of instruction. Some subjects are taught in English (PE, Arts and Crafts, Science, Geography) while others are taught in Spanish (Mathematics, Religion, History, Economics). Cambridge examinations are conducted on-site: Movers/Starters/Flyers in primary and PET/KEY/First/Advanced in secondary, with English instruction aligned to these assessments; English and, in secondary, French certificates are CE-recognized. French is introduced in ESO with DELF or DALF preparation. The campus spans more than 11,000 m2 and includes an auditorium, dining hall, heated indoor pool, multi-sport courts, laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Technology, a computer room, an audiovisual room, a music room, and a kitchen. A midday and after-school programme features robotics, theatre, dance, language clubs, chess, and sports.
