Svenska Skolan Marbella was founded in 2003. Since 2013 the school has been located in La Alzambra / Nueva Andalucia near Puerto Banús, in modern facilities that include a pool, three padel courts, an artificial turf football pitch and ample outdoor spaces. The school is a registered international school that follows the Swedish curriculum, supervised by the Swedish Schools Inspectorate (Skolinspektionen) and evaluated by the Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket), and it is approved by the Consejería de Educación de la Junta de Andalucía. It offers preschool (3–5 years) and primary education up to year F–6 on site, with supervised distance learning for secondary levels (year 7–9 via Sofia Distans and gymnasium via Hermods Distansgymnasium) under teacher guidance; Swedish, English and Spanish are active parts of daily school life.
