Submitting applications and school visits: Applications are submitted online or in paper format. The IBDP application form includes a personal statement from the applicant. A school visit is arranged: the first visit is with the head of admissions to have a school tour, complete pre-entry assessment tests and discuss education at The Academy; the second visit is to meet with a member of the Leadership Team.
Entrance tests: All applicants for Year 2 and above must complete the entrance test in English and mathematics for their year. Entrance tests are usually completed at the school during the school visit. Arrangements can be made for testing at another location if the applicant is not able to visit the island.
Results and next steps: If we can offer your child a place, we will contact you to discuss the results of the entrance tests and the next steps in the admissions process. If we are unable to offer a place, we will add your child's application to our waiting list. The waiting list is arranged in order of the dates the applications were made and may consider factors such as siblings in the school, interview results, and when you visited the school.
Enrolment: Following the offer of a place you will receive instructions for enrolment. To secure your place, you should complete enrolment within 2 weeks. This completes the offer process.
Next steps: We will contact you to inform you of any information meetings or sessions for new families prior to starting school. The Academy is a partially selective school. Our Junior School is non-selective, whereas the Senior School takes academic achievement and ability into consideration to ensure that students will be able to have full access to the curriculum. The interview and tests are used to place a child in the correct group, considering the age and academic ability. The waiting list policy includes factors such as whether you have siblings in the school, interview results, and when you visited the school.

Waiting Lists: The Academy has long waiting lists for different year groups. It does not follow a first-come, first-served policy. The waiting list is reevaluated whenever a space becomes available. Factors considered include whether siblings are in the school, interview results, and when you visited the school. When a place becomes available, the leadership team decides who is the best fit.
The Academy International School Junior Campus is located on a seven-acre rural estate in Marratxí, characterized by its traditional Mallorcan country house architecture and extensive natural spaces. Students follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales, transitioning from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Primary and eventually the International Baccalaureate Diploma. A unique feature of the campus is its integration of nature into daily life; the grounds house several animals, including horses, which students learn to care for as part of their extracurricular activities. Facilities include an orchard, a vegetable garden, a swimming pool, and specialized rooms for music and art. Learning often extends beyond the classroom into the "paddock" or gardens, fostering a connection with the environment. With a student body representing over 30 nationalities, the school maintains a community-focused atmosphere where all year groups interact. The school day runs from 8:55 am to 4:00 pm, supported by an "Early Bird" morning service.
