Established in 1985, The British School of Lanzarote has provided a British-style education for decades. The Headteacher, Ms Laura Hare, began in September 2020. The school has progressed to an international approach, offering both British and Spanish qualifications, and in February 2021 NABSS approved the new Sixth Form with International A Levels. The school serves students from age 2 to 18 and remains a private company. The British School of Lanzarote is registered as The British School of Lanzarote, S.L.U.
The BSL mission states a positive atmosphere based on community, equality and shared values, with all individuals valued. The community emphasizes family connections, integrity and compassion, and language learning is integrated across the curriculum. The school welcomes students from Lanzarote and around the world as they progress from Foundation through Sixth Form. Co-curricular activities include Saturday School, expanding opportunities for learning beyond the classroom.
The British School of Lanzarote is a private, all-age school on a single Canary Island campus serving students from age 2 to 18. It delivers a bilingual program that blends a British curriculum with elements of the Spanish National Curriculum and international qualifications, with teaching in English and parallel Spanish components. The school covers Key Stages 1–5, including Sixth Form, and prepares students for AS and A‑Levels in Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Global Perspectives, Business, English Language, Maths and Computer Science. Established in 1985, it has grown into an internationally oriented setting with a NABSS-approved Sixth Form since February 2021. Facilities include Foundation Stage rooms, primary and secondary teaching spaces, a Library, Art Room, Science Laboratory, Computing Suite and a Sensory Room, plus on-site canteen and outdoor learning spaces. Extra activities include Saturday School for students, with Arts, Dance and language clubs that complement the core curriculum and reinforce community values.
