History

The Montessori School of Mallorca is an international private school offering nursery, primary and secondary education for ages 3 to 16 in Mallorca, Spain. It blends Montessori pedagogy with the English national curriculum, providing a continuous learning journey from Casa to Secondary with British IGCSE and Spanish ESO qualifications. The school is operated by Earth Children School S.L. and Earth Children High School S.L., two private limited companies in Spain. The founder and director, Montserrat Povill Pacheco, has more than 20 years in education, including work with UNICEF across Africa, Asia and America; her grandparents founded a school in Catalonia in 1934 and her parents continued the educational legacy. As it celebrates its 10th anniversary, the school emphasises a multilingual, Montessori-inspired approach to empower children to become independent, creative, and compassionate learners.

Community

English is the main language of learning, and the school hosts a vibrant international community, including participation in Model United Nations in Rome. The school emphasises wellbeing and community with a safe, caring environment that fosters resilience, kindness, and a sense of belonging for every child. The Montessori School of Mallorca blends Montessori pedagogy with a British curriculum to offer a continuous journey from Casa (ages 3–5) to Secondary (11–16). It combines Montessori methods with the English National Curriculum, culminating in Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE qualifications alongside a Spanish ESO pathway. English is the main language of learning within a multilingual community, with Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) conferences in Rome and New York. Primary is homework-free and delivers academics, languages, arts, and physical education, supported by Montessori staff and specialists in music, languages, and sport. In Secondary, classes are small and British in approach, with a dual qualification pathway (IGCSE and ESO) and Global Perspectives, MMUN. W.I.S.E. Centre provides wellbeing, inclusion, and safeguarding. The campus revolves around a 400-year-old windmill, with outdoor spaces, gardens, and nature-focused learning.
