Wellbeing and Support

How students are nurtured, understood, and kept safe

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The W.I.S.E. Centre provides tailored guidance for every child, offering counselling and emotional care alongside academic coaching and learning adaptations. It supports a wide range of needs, including language support, emotional regulation, social development, attention skills, handwriting, and fine motor development. Support may be delivered one-to-one or in small groups, with in-class adaptations or individual learning plans as needed. Well-being and safety are foundational to the school community, not add-ons. The W.I.S.E. Centre helps students grow with confidence, balance, and joy in learning.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

The W.I.S.E. Centre offers guidance for a wide range of needs and strengths, including those who may benefit from extra help with focus, literacy, or language (EAL). It supports emotional regulation and social development, and provides academic support through attention skills programmes and handwriting/fine motor support. The school also offers enrichment for exceptionally able or gifted students. Support may include one-to-one or small-group sessions, in-class adaptations, or individual learning plans to extend or reinforce progress. The approach places well-being at the core of personalised learning for every student.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English is the main language of learning. The school serves an international community with English as the primary medium of instruction. EAL support is available through the W.I.S.E. Centre, providing language-focused guidance as part of integrated academic and emotional support. Language support can be delivered one-to-one or in small groups as part of personalised guidance. This integrated approach helps students access the British curriculum and participate in school life.

Mental Wellbeing

Well-being and safety are central to the school's approach. The W.I.S.E. Centre provides personalised guidance to nurture confidence, balance, and joy in learning. It addresses emotional care, social development, and academic coaching, with options for one-to-one or small-group sessions, learning adaptations, or enrichment. The environment is described as a safe, caring space where every child feels understood, valued, and capable. The focus is on holistic development, balancing academic growth with emotional and social wellbeing.

Safeguarding

A Safe and Caring Space is provided through the W.I.S.E. Centre, which fosters inclusion, empathy, and curiosity to safeguard student welfare. Personalised guidance supports safety and wellbeing through one-to-one or small-group sessions and learning adaptations. The school is authorised by the Government of the Balearic Islands (07015550) after NABSS inspection and holds British Council accreditation, with additional recognition as an authorised Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge Assessment learning centre. These credentials reflect external oversight of the school's programmes and safeguarding standards.

The Montessori School of Mallorca blends Montessori pedagogy with a British curriculum to offer a continuous journey from Casa (ages 3–5) to Secondary (11–16). It combines Montessori methods with the English National Curriculum, culminating in Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE qualifications alongside a Spanish ESO pathway. English is the main language of learning within a multilingual community, with Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) conferences in Rome and New York. Primary is homework-free and delivers academics, languages, arts, and physical education, supported by Montessori staff and specialists in music, languages, and sport. In Secondary, classes are small and British in approach, with a dual qualification pathway (IGCSE and ESO) and Global Perspectives, MMUN. W.I.S.E. Centre provides wellbeing, inclusion, and safeguarding. The campus revolves around a 400-year-old windmill, with outdoor spaces, gardens, and nature-focused learning. Languages include Spanish, Catalan, and German, with trips to London, Madrid, Rome, New York, and China.
