History

LEEDS International School was established on August 23, 1999, in Panadura by Dr. Sarath Jayatissa with a vision of a futuristic and global outlook grounded in religion and culture. It fills a gap in Sri Lanka's educational landscape by offering quality English-medium education that remains culturally relevant and accessible. It is a premier K-12 co-educational institution with a strong foundation in both London and National curricula, nurturing students to excel academically and personally. It has grown into a network across multiple towns, including Panadura (main), Matara, Galle, Horana, Ambalangoda, Matugama, Tangalle, Piliyandala, Bandaragama, Maharagama, Tissamaharama, Malabe, Homagama, Maggona, Boralesgamuwa, Embilipitiya, and Walgama. It has earned international recognitions, such as the Excellence Award in Education (2022) by the International Association for Quality Education and the ICSG Gold Award in Education (2025) for expanding English-medium education to remote areas.

Community

LEEDS hosts and participates in events such as the Inter-Leeds Athletic Championship 2025 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Diyagama. The network celebrated milestones with events like the 25th Anniversary of Leeds Galle on 2 August 2025 at Samanala Grounds, Galle. Leeds International School is a K–12, co‑educational institution established in 1999 in Panadura, Sri Lanka, with a network across many towns. The curriculum centers on the Edexcel International framework for IGCSE and IAL examinations, complemented by a National curriculum in English medium offered at selected branches, and from 2025/26 Edexcel iPrimary preparation at chosen campuses.
