The school offers a diverse range of clubs to develop intellectual and critical thinking skills. Activities include Chess, Debating, Book Club, Coding, Robotics and Design, Orators and Debaters, Lego Master Builders, LEAD (Leadership training activities) and Model United Nations. The after-school programme runs on weekdays for both Junior and Senior Schools, with non-sporting activities finishing around 4:00pm and sporting activities finishing around 4:30–5:00pm. These clubs foster thinking, collaboration and communication across age groups.
The school offers Creative and performing arts activities including Acoustic guitar ensemble, Choir, Drama, Arts and Crafts, Photography, Kandyan and contemporary dance, and Speech and Drama. These activities provide opportunities for performance, exhibition and creative expression beyond the core curriculum. They are part of the wider learning programme for both Primary and Secondary students.
German language and Japanese club are available to develop language skills and intercultural awareness. These language-related activities contribute to students' cultural understanding and global perspectives.

Community and service activities include a Community Project for the Lady Ridgeway Children's Hospital and Interact in the Secondary School. These opportunities engage students in volunteering and service to others.
Leadership and professional development are fostered through LEAD (Leadership training activities) in the Primary School, along with Secondary offerings such as Model United Nations, The International Award and YPI (Young Philanthropists Initiative). These programmes develop leadership, collaboration and project-based skills.
The school supports wellbeing through a broad sport programme including Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Netball, Swimming, Table Tennis and Tennis, plus Yoga. These activities promote physical fitness and teamwork as part of daily routine.
The British School in Colombo is a long-established, co-educational day school offering a British curriculum from early years to the Sixth Form. The Junior School follows the English National Curriculum, while the Senior School delivers Cambridge IGCSE and A Level courses.
