Parent Experience

Community, involvement and what it's like to be a parent at this school

History

Bladins School Foundation, founded 150 years ago, is one of Sweden's oldest private institutions. Bladins International School of Malmö (BISM) was founded in 1987 to serve the Australian expatriate community, when Kockums required a school for international children. Today Bladins consists of five schools: International and Swedish Preschools, Swedish and International Primary and Middle Schools, and a Swedish High School. BISM is an IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) for ages 6 to 16. Since its founding, BISM has grown into a vibrant, multicultural community with students from over 50 countries and an inclusive culture with transparent communication and mutual respect.

Community

Bladins International School of Malmö has a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative community with students from over 50 countries. An active Parents' Association (PA) board organizes events, supports school initiatives, and facilitates open communication between parents and the school. Through a variety of school events, student-led initiatives, and parent–teacher collaboration, the community provides a nurturing atmosphere where students and families can thrive. Outdoor Education Programme offers hiking, camping, and canoeing to develop leadership and environmental stewardship, and events such as Spring Fair and Winter Fair contribute to the school's vibrant culture.

Parent-Teacher Association

Central to the BISM community is the active Parents' Association (PA) board, which organizes events, supports school initiatives, and facilitates open communication between parents and the school. The PA is part of the community's core, coordinating activities that support school life and foster engagement among families. Through school events, student-led initiatives, and parent–teacher collaboration, the PA helps create a nurturing atmosphere for students. Spring Fair and Winter Fair are events connected to BISM's community life.
