Introduction

Europaskolan is an International Baccalaureate World School in Sweden delivering the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) alongside the Swedish national curriculum. The school serves learners aged 5 to 16 and offers bilingual instruction in Swedish and English, with weekly mother tongue support to sustain internationalism. IB learning is embedded across two campuses: the Main Building at Gotlandsgatan 43 in Södermalm, and Eknäs Gård, a 15-hectare rural site 35 kilometres south of Stockholm, where students undertake practical, hands-on inquiry as part of the IB approach. Small class sizes (up to 24 students) emphasise inquiry, reflection and action. The school's off-campus Physical Education and Outdoor Life program highlights experiential learning through camping, hiking and visits to rock-climbing gyms and frozen lakes. Europaskolan supports progression to Swedish gymnasium, the IB Diploma Programme, or other high school options worldwide, grounded in global citizenship and lifelong learning together for students.

- Europaskolan does not charge tuition for any year group or term. There are no per-term or per-year tuition fees for IBEY, PYP, MYP or other year groups.

The aim is to educate for life by developing internationally minded and knowledgeable citizens. The PYP is a transdisciplinary program in which each academic year consists of six units of inquiry, focusing on knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes and action. The MYP emphasizes teaching and learning in context, conceptual understanding, and the development of approaches to learning (ATL), alongside service as action and global contexts. The school provides a strong foundation for higher education. Graduates may progress to a Swedish gymnasium, the IB Diploma Programme, or another high school internationally after graduation.

Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school creates a safe, family-like atmosphere and keeps class sizes small to help students feel secure. It supports social-emotional learning through a mentor programme, regular parent–teacher communication, and a Student Council that involves pupils in school life. The school has an active anti-bullying policy and emphasizes respectful, inclusive behaviour across the community.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Special Education instructional support is available. The school provides health facilities and an on-site nurse, and a School Counselor is available for student support.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

Bilingual instruction is provided in Swedish and English; the school uses two languages of instruction.

Mental Wellbeing

Student wellbeing is supported by a School Counselor (Monday–Friday 9:00–16:00) and a School Nurse (Monday–Thursday 8:30–14:30; Friday 8:30–14:00). A mentor programme offers individual guidance, and regular communication between parents and staff supports student wellbeing.

Safeguarding

The school prioritises safety and has an anti-bullying policy as part of its safeguarding measures. It also fosters a safe, family-like atmosphere and provides access to nursing and counselling staff for safeguarding and wellbeing needs.

Admissions

Admissions

The school uses a separate queue system that allows applications at any time during the year. After submitting the application you receive a queue reference number, but you cannot see your position in the queue. If you do not have a Swedish national ID you can use TF01 (for a boy) or TF02 (for a girl) instead of the last four digits in the personal number. Our youngest students start IBEY (IB Early Years) in August the calendar year they turn five, while PYP 1 is the first compulsory year under the Swedish National Curriculum. The Middle Years Programme starts with MYP 1, year 6 in the Swedish school system. Most vacancies are available from August and the admission process starts in February/March the previous term. Placements are offered according to queue regulations that consider siblings, proximity to the school and queue time. Once you have applied to our queue you will continue to stay there for future admissions and will move along with the queue for next year level. No new application is necessary. Europaskolan is a fee free school.

Waitlist

The school welcomes waitlist applications for all classes.
